Job summary

Amazon AWS is seeking a Field Engineer to provide full life-cycle support for AWS Data Centers, from design inception to site improvement and maintenance. You will be the go-to engineering resource regionally, reviewing designs, solving complex issues, and leading upgrades to enhance capacity and reliability.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and adapt to field requirements, driving safety, efficiency, and cost-effective infrastructure delivery on projects locally and globally.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Responsibilities

• Review design and equipment submittals for new Data Centers in your region.
• Troubleshoot, perform RCA, and create CA documentation for site/equipment failures.
• Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, SOP reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
• Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design‑solutions to add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
• Interface with internal data center design engineering, server hardware, EH&S to promote standards that ensure reliability.
• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
• Lead engineering audits including on‑site visits within Amazon data centers; produce reports outlining risks with mitigations.
• Act as resident engineer during new construction projects; support turnover.
