NBN is seeking a Field Engineer based in Adelaide to join the Adelaide Metro Network team. You will focus on field-based assurance, upgrades, and network element work across HFC, Ethernet, and FTTP technologies, with travel across regions and after-hours support as needed.

The role requires a hands-on technical background, strong problem-solving, and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic field environment.

• Strong technical background in maintaining network infrastructure and field-based assurance.
• Experience with fault resolution and escalation management.
• Familiarity with FTTP, Ethernet, DWDM, GPON and HFC architectures is essential.

TheFieldServices(FS)TeamwithinChiefOperationsBusinessUnit,providesFieldWorkforcecapabilitiesacrossalltechnologiesfor,ServiceActivation,ServiceAssurance,NetworkAssurance,NetworkMaintenance,CustomerComplaintslinkedwithNetworkfaultsandQualityInspection.

BasedinAdelaide,yournewroleasaFieldEngineerwillfocusonrepresentingNBN’sFieldServicesteaminallfield-basedassuranceandbuildactivitiesspecificallyrelatedtothecorenetwork.YouwillberesponsibleforsupportingEthernet,DWDM,switching,HFC,networkintegration,augmentation,andupgrades,aswellasconductingfieldauditsandensuringconnectqualityandDeliveryPartnerperformanceacrossservices.

Thisroledemandshigh-levelfieldsupport,whichwillincludefrequentintra&interstatetravel(oftenatshortnotice),scheduledafter-hourswork,andparticipationinanon-callrostertorespondtourgentescalations.

Roleexpectations

ThisroleinvolvesfieldmanagementandnetworkassuranceacrossNBN’spassiveandactiveinfrastructure,withastrongemphasisonHFC(HybridFibre-Coaxial)DWDM,Ethernetandrouting.Thesuccessfulcandidatewillberesponsibleforoverseeingassuranceactivitiesandexecutingnetworkelementupgradesontheactivenetwork.Theroledemandson-sitetechnicalsupport,resolutionofescalations,andadeepunderstandingofCorenetwork,HFCarchitecture,RFfundamentalsandoperations.FamiliaritywithFTTPtechnologiesandarobustgraspofHFCsystemswouldbehighlybeneficialtoensureeffectivenetworkperformanceandupgradedelivery.

Theidealcandidatewillhaveastrongtechnicalbackgroundinmaintainingandrestoringnetworkinfrastructure,withhands-onexperienceinfield-basedassuranceandfaultresolution.ExpertiseinFTTxtechnologiessuchasFTTPisadvantageous,butanunderstandingofnetworkassuranceprotocolsacrosstechnologieslikeEthernet,DWDM,GPONandHFCarchitectureandoperationsisessentialparticularlybuilding/commissioningoutsideplantnetworkequipmenti.e.:Nodes,Ampsandpassivedevices.
