Job summary

Orica is seeking an experienced Field Electrician to join the Asset team, supporting manufacturing facilities, MMUs and site infrastructure across Western Australia and South Australia on an 8/6 FIFO roster.

You will work hands-on with HV and LV electrical systems, performing maintenance, troubleshooting and preventative work to ensure safe, reliable operations. Travel to mine sites and facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• Electrical Trade Qualification and current unrestricted Electrical License.
• Experience with HV and LV electrical systems in industrial settings.
• Proven skills in maintenance, fault-finding and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and repair plant equipment (e.g., MMUs, compressors, control systems).
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HV/LV systems.
• Support commissioning, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Travel to Orica facilities and mine sites to provide technical support and maintenance.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with standards and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to maximise reliability and performance.
• Maintain focus on safety, risk management, and operational excellence.

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Electrician to join our Asset team, supporting Orica's manufacturing facilities, mobile equipment, SMC and mining operations across Western Australia and South Australia on an 8/6 FIFO roster.

This is a hands‑on role offering vast variety and technical challenges, with responsibility for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems across fixed plant, mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) and site infrastructure. You'll work with both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems while supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations across a diverse range of assets.

What you will be doing

- Maintaining, servicing and repairing plant equipment, including augers, compressors, electrical control systems, MMUs, and associated assets;

- Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults using specialized testing and diagnostic equipment;

- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on HV and LV electrical systems;

- Supporting commissioning activities, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives;

- Travelling to Orica manufacturing facilities and mine sites to provide technical support, troubleshooting and maintenance services;

- Conducting inspections and testing activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and safety requirements;

- Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to maximize equipment reliability and performance;

- Maintaining a strong focus on safety, risk management, and operational excellence.

What you will bring

- A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices;

- Electrical Trade Qualification and current unrestricted Electrical License;

- Experience working with HV and/or LV electrical systems in industrial environments;

- Demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and troubleshooting;

- Exposure to manufacturing, mining, heavy industry, processing plants, mobile equipment or similar environments;

- Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently in the field;

- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to regional and remote locations;

- Well‑developed communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
