Job summary

DroneShield Limited in Sydney is seeking a Field Data Engineer to deliver high quality datasets for the machine learning lifecycle powering our drone detection algorithms. You will work across embedded data capture tooling and RF mechanics in challenging environments.

The role involves recording RF data in lab and field settings, occasional travel within Greater Sydney, soldering RF emitters, and processing data in the Linux terminal while improving data capture workflows.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience operating a Linux terminal.
• Ideal: exposure to the machine learning lifecycle and/or computer networking.
• Ideal: drone enthusiast with interest in latest industry trends.
• We’re hiring at both junior and mid-level for this role.

Responsibilities

• This multi-disciplinary role works in the Signal Intelligence Operations Team to create high quality datasets for AI model training.
• Record RF data in anechoic chambers and various environments; travel within Greater Sydney weekly.
• Research and analyse RF signatures emitted by drones; includes soldering and configuring RF emitters.
• Process and organise raw data in the Linux terminal.
• Improve current data capture workflow with process and technology improvements.
