Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Rockhampton QLD is seeking Inspectors (Roadworks) to join the Delivery and Operations team. You will monitor construction and maintenance activities to ensure work meets contractual, legislative, quality, environmental and safety requirements across road projects in Central Queensland.

The OO4 and OO5 classifications offer flexible permanent full-time roles. A current Class C driver licence is mandatory, with a Certificate III in Civil Construction

Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction or road maintenance practices relevant to transport infrastructure.
• Ability to make considered decisions and work with contractors.
• Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor work, construction processes and temporary traffic management arrangements.
• Monitor compliance with specifications, legislation and contract conditions.
• Review quality, environmental and safety controls.
• Maintain records including diaries, test results, photos and reports.
• Provide timely updates on project progress and contractor performance.
• Identify road hazards and defects and advise on remediation priorities.
• Investigate operational complaints and requests from the public.
• Inspect third-party activities within the road corridor.
• Support disaster preparedness and post-disaster road/reopening activities.
• Participate in meetings, training and development activities.
