Job summary

Save the Children Australia invites applications for two Family Support Specialist roles in Cairns, part of the Ohana Academy. You’ll work within a wraparound team to support young people involved with the youth justice system, delivering holistic case management and family-focused services.

The role requires trauma-informed practice, youth work or case management experience, and a collaborative, culturally respectful approach with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Qualifications

• Proven skills applying trauma-informed practice in day-to-day work.
• Experience using a strengths-based approach when engaging with families.
• Background in youth work and/or case management positions.
• Strong interpersonal abilities to collaboratively set goals with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic case management to at-risk young people in Cairns.
• Identify client strengths and set program goals with families.
• Deliver guidance and educational resources to support wellbeing and outcomes.
• Work with Ohana Academy team to deliver evidence-informed services.
• Recognise when additional support is needed and refer appropriately.
