Job summary

Educational Writing Boards Pty Ltd – Mulgrave VIC is seeking a hands-on Factory Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to maintain production machinery and systems in safe, reliable condition. You will perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime.

You will work with a supportive team and coordinate external contractors when required to keep production running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical engineering or trade qualification.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with saws, compressors, pneumatic systems or similar machinery.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures.
• Understanding of machinery guarding and lockout/tagout requirements.
• Ability to read manuals and technical information.
• Good organisation and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with production staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled daily, weekly and periodic machinery inspections.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and adjustments.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
• Undertake mechanical repairs and replace worn parts.
• Inspect guards, emergency stops, switches, hoses and moving components.
• Maintain blades and cutting equipment, dust extraction and air systems.
• Coordinate external technicians and service providers.
• Maintain maintenance logs, service records and inspection checklists.
• Monitor spare parts and maintenance supplies.
