Job summary

Timber Upcycling in Kilsyth, Victoria is seeking an experienced Factory Manager/Production Supervisor to own day‑to‑day operations. You will lead safe, efficient manufacturing, manage staff, schedules and maintenance, and drive improvements across the value chain from order receipt to shipment.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Factory Manager / Production Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our pallet manufacturing yard in Kilsyth, who has a real desire and is driven to take ownership of the role.

About the role

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for delivering the production schedule, managing staff, shifts and rosters, coordinating production and maintenance priorities, and improving factory performance and reliability. In short, the entire process from receipt of order to shipment of goods is yours to run, supported by the addition of new systems and investment in the business.

Key responsibilities

Lead daily manufacturing operations to deliver production targets safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Drive measurable improvements in OEE, productivity, waste reduction, labour efficiency and operating costs.

Monitor operational performance, identifying and resolving production, capacity and delivery risks before they impact outcomes.

Own and manage the production schedule, ensuring resources, labour and materials are aligned to meet customer demand.

Develop and lead shift supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Coordinate maintenance activities, minimise downtime and drive improvements in equipment reliability and performance.

Lead the implementation of new systems and processes to support business growth, decision‑making and performance improvements.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, efficiency and team capability.

Ensure the yard is organised to allow the safe movement of people, trucks and materials.

Coordinate supplier purchases to ensure on‑time delivery of production targets.

About you

Previous leadership experience in a Factory Manager, Factory Supervisor, Production Supervisor or similar role.

Strong production planning, workforce management and operational scheduling skills.

Proven experience in delivering demonstrable performance improvements.

Proven experience having used manufacturing systems in your role and confidence in playing a key part in new systems implementation.

Strong organisational, time‑management, problem‑solving, analytical and decision‑making capabilities, with superior attention to detail.

Experience managing employees in a manufacturing or similar environment (experience with timber would be well regarded).

The ability to lead, coach and develop teams while driving accountability and results.

Experience managing supplier orders and relationships.

Experience coordinating maintenance activities and driving equipment reliability and performance improvements.
