Job summary

Costa Group, Australia’s leading grower, packer and exporter, is seeking experienced Facility Supervisors for multiple locations including Mildura, VIC. The role focuses on correct handling, grading, packing and dispatch of citrus, with emphasis on quality assurance, training and compliance with safety standards.

As a Facility Supervisor, you will ensure efficient operations, manage staff, maintain documentation for traceability, and collaborate with other supervisors to keep the packing shed

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV or equivalent supervisory experience in a pack shed.
• Proven ability to lead teams and ensure compliance with quality control measures.
• Experience handling perishable products with focus on cool chain management.
• Strong planning and leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grading, packing and dispatch to meet customer specifications.
• Assess incoming produce quality and allocate grading resources.
• Monitor product quality across washing and grading stages.
• Rectify quality issues to maintain standards and traceability.
• Coordinate with Harvest, Maintenance and Dispatch managers for smooth operations.
• Maintain quality assurance records for full traceability.
• Manage the cool chain from handling to dispatch.
• Train and supervise staff to ensure SOP compliance.
• Schedule work and balance shifts to optimize output.
• Onboard new staff and explain workflows and roles.
• Create packing rosters based on daily volumes.
• Ensure waste handling follows established protocols.
• Verify dispatches meet customer requirements.

We are seeking experienced Facility Supervisors to join our teams in Midura VIC 3500, Fisherman’s Reach NSW 2441, Atherton QLD 4883, Childers QLD 4660 and Walkamin QLD 4872.

These positions oversee citrus grading, packing, quality assurance and dispatch operations. These full-time roles play a critical part in our citrus operations, ensuring that produce meets customer requirements while maintaining compliance with food safety, hygiene and quality standards.

Job Description

Position: Facility Supervisor

Locations: Midura VIC 3500, Fisherman’s Reach NSW 2441, Atherton QLD 4883, Childers QLD 4660 and Walkamin QLD 4872

Salary range: $74,000-$85,000 p.a plus super

Employment type: Full-time, permanent position

As a Facility Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the correct handling, grading, packing and dispatch of citrus. You will oversee product quality, implement quality assurance procedures, manage personnel training and liaise with key departments to maintain efficiency and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the grading, packing and dispatch of produce to meet customer specifications.
• Assess incoming produce for quality and allocate grading resources accordingly.
• Monitor product quality throughout production, including washing and first, second and final grading.
• Identify and rectify mechanical damage or grading inconsistencies to maintain quality standards.
• Collaborate with the Harvest Supervisor, Maintenance Manager and Dispatch Manager to ensure seamless facility operations.
• Ensure accurate quality assurance record keeping for full product traceability.
• Manage the cool chain process to maintain optimal product condition from handling to dispatch.
• Train and oversee personnel to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Coordinate work schedules and manage workflow efficiency.
• Onboard new staff to the pack shed and explain workflows and roles.
• Create packing rosters based on daily volumes and balance shifts accordingly.
• Ensure waste handling is conducted in accordance with established protocols.
• Verify that all dispatches meet standard procedures and customer requirements.

About You

Skills and Experience

• Certificate III or Certificate IV in a relevant field, or a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience in a pack shed.
• Proven ability to lead teams and ensure compliance with quality control measures.
• Experience handling perishable products, with a strong focus on cool chain management.
• Strong planning, organisational and leadership skills.
