Job summary

Greystar Australia is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead two Redfern student communities in Sydney. You will oversee maintenance, safety compliance, and make-ready processes while guiding a team of technicians.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong contractor coordination, and a focus on delivering high presentation standards and student satisfaction in a fast-growing, global company.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities or maintenance management.
• Strong WHS knowledge and preventative maintenance experience.
• CapEx and budget management skills.
• Experience supervising contractors and teams.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Trade qualifications (electrical/plumbing/HVAC) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance across both sites, on time and within budget.
• Develop and deliver preventative maintenance programs including statutory testing with accurate records.
• Coordinate external contractors and suppliers in line with permits, insurance, and safety standards.
• Manage the make-ready process for vacant rooms — inspections, contractor scheduling, and quality checks.
• Support CapEx planning, budgeting, and project delivery with the Community Manager.
• Lead, coach, and support a team of Maintenance Technicians — recruitment, training, performance reviews, and day-to-day supervision.
• Champion WHS across both sites, ensuring a safe and well-maintained living environment.
• Provide ad hoc out-of-hours support for genuine emergencies (rare).
