Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead FM delivery at a major healthcare facility in Queensland, Australia. You’ll oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage subcontractors and ensure WHS compliance in a live hospital environment.

You will lead a team of FM and trade professionals, collaborating with clinical and operational stakeholders to drive safety, service excellence and continuous improvement across day‑to‑day operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar FM role.
  • Experience in complex environments — hospital or clinical facilities highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of building services, infrastructure and maintenance delivery.
  • Proven contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage risk, compliance and operational performance.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem‑solving capability.
  • Trade or engineering qualifications (electrical/mechanical) highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day FM operations including planned maintenance and reactive works.
  • Lead contractor performance, scheduling, supervision and quality assurance.
  • Ensure WHS compliance, inductions, risk assessments and safe work practices.
  • Monitor performance, work orders, compliance tasks and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly performance reports, maintenance summaries and defect logs.
  • Manage site budgets, invoices, variations and procurement.
  • Coordinating shutdowns, inspections and business continuity planning.
  • Build relationships with hospital leaders and clinical teams.
  • Support a culture of safety, service excellence and continuous improvement.

About the Opportunity

As the Facility Manager, you will be the key operational lead for all FM activities on site — overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance, and supporting a safe and efficient hospital environment. You’ll work closely with clinical and operational stakeholders, provide technical and strategic advice, and lead a team of FM and trade professionals to deliver exceptional service outcomes.
