Job summary

The Facilities & Assets Support Officer role supports the maintenance and operation of buildings and assets at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra. You will work within a team, undertake inspections and repairs, coordinate with contractors and contribute to planned and reactive maintenance tasks.

You will develop site knowledge, apply sound judgement to maintenance requests, and participate in on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

Recent hands-on experience in general building construction and maintenance.
Proficiency with hand and power tools and ability to work with wood, steel and laminates.
Experience coordinating maintenance with contractors and keeping records.

Responsibilities

Undertake facilities and asset maintenance activities including inspections and repairs to buildings and infrastructure.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding maintenance requests and operations.
Undertake a range of trades-related maintenance such as carpentry, painting, paving, plumbing, irrigation.
Coordinate site access and contractor engagement; assist with contractor supervision.
Operate workshop facilities safely and read technical drawings and plans.
Share on-call duties to support after-hours operations.
