Findlay Engineering is a family-owned Ballarat business employing around 50 people. We provide engineering, fabrication, machining and installation services to customers across industries including food production, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, transport and water infrastructure.

Variety of work - Work on different projects across multiple industries, rather than repetitive production-line fabrication.
Be involved in the whole job - From interpreting drawings and setting out through to fabrication, assembly and completion, you'll have the opportunity to see your work come together.
Use your skills and initiative - Our custom projects often require practical thinking, problem-solving and attention to detail.
Keep developing your skills - Gain experience working with different materials, fabrication techniques and types of equipment.
Be part of a local team - Join an established, family-owned business with a team of tradespeople, apprentices, machinists and engineers.
Depending on your skills and experience, your work may include:
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Setting out, fabricating and assembling custom steelwork and equipment.
MIG, TIG and stick welding across mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Fabricating structural steel, platforms, stairs, handrails, machinery and other custom projects.
Working alongside our engineering and machining teams to complete projects.
Undertaking repairs, modifications and occasional on-site installation work.
Checking your own work and taking pride in delivering a quality finished product.
We're looking for people who enjoy fabrication and take pride in their workmanship.
Ideally, you'll have:
Experience in metal fabrication or a relevant trade qualification.
The ability to read drawings and work independently.
Good welding and general fabrication skills.
A practical approach to problem-solving.
A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
Not experienced in every area? That's okay. We value people with the right attitude, solid practical skills and a willingness to learn.
We also welcome applications from people interested in starting a metal fabrication apprenticeship.
If you enjoy building things, like a bit of variety and want to be involved in more than just repetitive fabrication work, we'd like to hear from you.
