Job summary

Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre is offering an on-site four-year apprenticeship in Engineering Fabrication (Heavy Fabrication). You will learn welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding and metalwork under the guidance of experienced tradespeople in a workshop setting.

You will gain a Nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication, with full training fees and PPE provided, plus mentoring and support throughout your employment.

Qualifications

• Must have completion of Year 10 high school.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency with right to work in Australia.
• Genuine interest in welding, fabrication and engineering.
• Willingness to learn and strong work ethic.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Examine and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Weld components using a variety of welding techniques.
• Fabricate and assemble metal products and structures.
• Cut, grind and shape metal materials.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Operate welding equipment and fabrication machinery.
• Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
• Assist qualified tradespeople with fabrication projects.

About The Role: Build your long-term career in the engineering industry while completing a Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication (Heavy Fabrication Stream). You'll receive hands‑on training from experienced tradespeople and develop practical skills in welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding and metalwork within a professional workshop environment.

Duties May Include

• Examining and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Welding components using a variety of welding techniques
• Fabricating and assembling metal products and structures
• Cutting, grinding and shaping metal materials
• Using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
• Operating welding equipment and fabrication machinery
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Assisting qualified tradespeople with fabrication projects

Location: Mooroopna, VIC

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 3:30pm, Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm

About You

• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with the right to work in Australia

• Good attention to detail and practical problem‑solving skills
• Drivers Licence desirable but not essential
• Reliable, punctual and committed to completing a four‑year apprenticeship
