Expression of Interest – Security Analyst (Level 6)

Are you a highly skilled Security Analyst looking to protect critical infrastructure and data within local communities? We’re seeking expressions of interest for Level 6 Security Analyst roles supporting local government operations across Southeast Queensland (SEQ).

About the Role

As a Security Analyst (Level 6), you will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and maintaining the security of council systems and networks to ensure the safety of sensitive information and critical operations.

  • Monitoring and analysing network traffic to identify security threats.
  • Investigating and responding to security incidents and breaches.
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Implementing and maintaining security policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and relevant legislation.
  • Collaborating with IT teams to strengthen system defences and mitigate risks.
  • Providing security training and awareness to internal teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, and Essential Eight.
  • Proficiency with security tools, SIEM systems, and vulnerability management platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
