Job summary

IAG Defence & National Security is seeking an experienced Export Control Officer to join our Canberra-based defence communications program. This role offers autonomy while coordinating with industry partners to progress export control approvals and strengthen the organisation's export controls framework.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Export Control Officer to join a Defence communications program team in Canberra. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong export controls knowledge to help the Commonwealth and industry obtain and maintain access to advanced military communications technology.

You’ll work with a significant degree of autonomy, liaising with industry counterparts to progress export control approvals and supporting the organisation's broader export controls framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop export control approval application packages, including third-party retransfers and technical assistance agreements
• Support technology and data releases to industry and Defence stakeholders
• Support auditing and record keeping of export controls agreements
• Assist with the development and maturation of the organisation's export controls management framework
• Manage stakeholder engagement with internal teams and external industry counterparts

Required

• Current NV1 security clearance
• Experience in and knowledge of US export controls and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
• Experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with limited guidance, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement
