Job summary

Jpex Recruitment is seeking a Senior Welder for a busy tyre workshop in Wangaratta. This hands-on position requires TIG/MIG welding, fabricating metal parts, and ensuring high-quality workmanship for vehicle safety. You will operate welding equipment and keep the workshop safe and organised.

The role offers an market-leading hourly rate and a stable, supportive team environment with modern equipment. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, around 38 hours per week, with pay in the $50–$55 per hour

Qualifications

• Experience in welding and steel fabrication, with TIG/MIG welding proficiency.
• Ability to operate modern welding equipment to repair and align wheels.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and fabricates metal parts for wheels and workshop equipment.
• Operate MIG & TIG welding equipment as required.
• Check welds for strength, quality and defects.
• Repair damaged rims, frames and other metal components where suitable.
• Machine operation when repairing buckled wheels.
• Adhere to minimum tyre fitting requirements.
• Maintain a safe and organised workshop.

The Role:

In this hands‑on position, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality services to ensure optimal vehicle safety and performance.

Who we're looking for:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in welding/steel fabrication, in particular TIG/MIG welding
• Ability & experience to operate modern equipment, to repair and align wheels
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Good communication and teamwork skills
