Responsibilities

• Undertaking nursing duties, including surgical preparation and monitoring anaesthesia.

• Provide animal care information to owners on husbandry, nutrition, parasite control and behaviour.
• Animal handling including pathology sample collection and assistance with imaging and procedures.
• General reception and administrative duties.
• Uphold best practice and high standards of cleanliness and care for patients and team.

Job description

Our focus at Leopold Pet Hospital is to provide excellent patient care in a fun and friendly team environment. While initially we are looking for an experienced veterinary nurse to fill a maternity leave position, we have the scope to offer the successful candidate ongoing work. So if you want to try us out for a 10-month commitment, or if you want a longer term role, we can accommodate. We are a small animal clinic based just outside of Geelong in Victoria. We do best to ensure all members of the team can achieve a life work balance they are happy with! (PS. We don't work weekends! Yay!)

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

• Undertaking nursing duties, including surgical preparation, and monitoring anaesthesia, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and caring for hospitalised animals.
• Maintenance of hygiene and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Providing animal care information on husbandry, nutrition, parasite control and behaviour to pet owners.
• Animal handling including pathology sample collection, and assistance with positioning and restraint of patients for imaging and treatments/procedures.
• General reception and administrative duties.
• Upholding best practice and high standards of cleanliness and care to ensure the safety and health of the patients and the team.

Mandatory requirements for the applicant:

• Veterinary Nurse experience: A minimum of 12 months paid employment (not including placement)
• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent (or working towards this).
• Passion for animal care.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Punctual, honest and reliable.
• Team player.
• Must have legal authorisation to work in Australia.
