Job summary

SEC-Business Group is seeking a skilled Conveyor Maintenance Technician to maintain, repair and optimise conveyor systems and fixed plant machinery. The role reports to the Mechanical Engineer and involves drawing responsibility, component installation and QA/QC documentation.

The ideal candidate has a trade background with at least 3 years in a related role, strong fault-finding skills and a safety-focused mindset. Weekend availability and willingness to travel for away work are important.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Trade background with mechanical knowledge; belting industry advantageous.
• Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols.
• Experience in high‑intensity heavy industrial environments (e.g. mining).
• Flexibility for away work and overtime, including weekends if required.
• Proficient fault-finding and problem solving with a can-do attitude.
• Must pass pre-employment and random Drug & Alcohol screenings; police clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Create and review conveyor system drawings and layouts.
• Install belt cleaners, scrapers, ploughs, and related components.
• Perform routine inspections and complete QA/QC documentation.
• Troubleshoot, redesign, and identify improvements for conveyor systems.
• Ensure alignment of structures, pulleys, belts, motors and components.
• Assemble and modify conveyor equipment and hydraulic winding gear.

Experienced Conveyor Maintenance Technician

Equipped with state-of-the-art engineering, fabrication, belting, and machine workshop we offer a comprehensive range of conveyor componentry, conveyor belting, and wear panels.

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Conveyor Maintenance Technician role reporting to the Mechanical engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring the maintenance, repair, and optimal operation of conveyor systems and fixed plant machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conveyor system drawings
• Belt cleaner / scraper drawings and installation, coordinates etc
• Plough installations
• Replacement component drawings
• Following OEM’s and procedures
• Alignments of structure, pulley’s, belts and motors
• Belt cleaner / scraper refurbishments and installations
• Fitting Ploughs into the system
• Hard skirts system maintenance and installations
• Structural maintenance and modifications
• Trouble shooting and re-design
• Identify improvement designs to conveyor systems or equipment
• Tracking and alignment of joins and structural components
• Assembling conveyor system and mechanical joins
• Modification and assembly to equipment and machinery used in conveyor maintenance practices
• Assembling of flaking structures, winders, stands, hydraulic pinch drives
• Assemble and operation of hydraulic winding equipment
• Routine inspections to plant, equipment and machinery
• Completing inspection reports
• Completing QA/QC documentation
• Maintenance and repairs

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
• Trade Background: Relevant trade experience or mechanical knowledge. Experience in the belting industry is advantageous but not essential. A willingness to learn and adapt is crucial.
• Safety Commitment: Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols.
• Work History: Demonstrated history of working in high-intensity labor roles, particularly within heavy industrial environments such as mining.
• Availability: Flexibility for away work and overtime, including weekend shifts if required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in fault-finding, problem-solving, and a ‘can-do’ attitude towards technical challenges.
• Licenses and Certifications: Current Driver’s License and high-risk work license. Valid Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets. Must be able to pass pre-employment and random Drug & Alcohol screenings. Police clearance is required.
