Groundstone is a busy café in Orange, NSW, seeking an experienced Chef or Cook for full-time or part-time roles. The role is hands-on, fast-paced and collaborative, with daytime hours and weekend/evening functions.

• Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering needs.
• Assist with menu development, specials and catering prep.
• Support and mentor junior kitchen team members when required.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house for smooth service.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Chef or Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time or part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who works well in a fast-paced kitchen, takes pride in the quality and presentation of their food, and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

The role primarily offers daytime hours, with weekend work and occasional evening functions required.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing and cooking dishes to established recipes and presentation standards
• Completing daily food preparation and setting up your section for service
• Managing preparation and cooking times during busy periods
• Maintaining consistency, quality and attention to detail
• Following food safety, hygiene and cleaning procedures
• Monitoring stock levels and communicating ordering requirements
• Assisting with menu development, specials and catering preparation
• Supporting and mentoring junior kitchen team members when required
• Working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
• Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills
• The ability to work calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• A good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• Reliability, initiative and a positive attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Pride in producing consistent, well-presented food
• Availability across weekdays and weekends
• Relevant cookery qualifications are desirable but not essential for applicants with suitable experience
