Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District is seeking an Exercise Physiologist for headspace Bondi Junction to deliver 1:1 sessions and group activities focused on youth mental health. The role supports a pilot program within the SESLHD Mental Health Service and involves collaboration with a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Shifts are 08:30-17:00, 09:30-18:00 and 11:00-19:30, with on-site work in Bondi Junction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science or equivalent as required by NSW Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 exercise physiology services for young people with mild to moderate mental health concerns.
• Develop and support a health and exercise group program under the headspace After Hours Pilot.
• Contribute to service delivery at headspace Bondi Junction within SESLHD Mental Health Service.

Want to make a difference to the lives of young people? An exciting professional development opportunity exists to gain experience in the early intervention mental health space as an Exercise Physiologist. The Exercise Physiologist will be responsible for 1:1 work with young people as well as developing and supporting a health and exercise group program that runs as part of the headspace After Hours Pilot Program.

This position will be shift work - shifts include 08:30-17:00, 09:30- 18:00 and 11:00-19:30.

Selection Criteria

• Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and eligibility for membership with Exercise Sports Science, Australia; hold a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer; and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
• Demonstrated core competency skills in in delivering evidence-based exercise physiology services to consumers with mental illness or transferrable skills.
• Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, to both engage patients/clients and work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the provision of clinical care using evidence based practice, commensurate with years of experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to the use and application of professional and clinical digital technologies.
• Demonstrated participation in quality improvement processes, commensurate with years of experience.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to the demands and pressures of the role while managing time effectively.
• Current drivers licence or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
