Job summary

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is seeking an Executive Level 1 to lead implementation activities and provide strategic advice in support of the Closing the Gap commitments with First Nations stakeholders.

The role emphasizes monitoring, reporting and engaging across DEWR business units, with an ongoing merit-based pool for future vacancies. Candidates must be Australian citizens and able to obtain Baseline clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects and work programs supporting the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and DEWR's commitments.
• Provide strategic and evidence-based advice to senior leaders on policy, program and organisational reform affecting First Nations peoples.
• Support DEWR areas to implement Priority Reforms and embed culturally responsive, partnership-based approaches across DEWR.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders as a trusted business partner for organisational change.
• Identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities and provide practical recommendations for decision-making.
• Collaborate with the National Indigenous Australians Agency and other departments to share best practices.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and governance reporting, including high-quality briefs and submissions.
• Mentor team members and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.
