Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an experienced Executive Officer to join the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Strategy and Services (DVC ISS). You will provide high-level strategic, governance and operational support, helping drive Indigenous outcomes and reconciliation across the University.

About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Executive Officer to join the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Strategy and Services (DVC ISS). Working closely with the Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy and Services, you will provide high-level strategic, governance and operational support across the portfolio, helping drive initiatives that advance Indigenous outcomes, reconciliation and organisational priorities across the University.

Your key responsibilities
  • work closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ISS) and senior stakeholders across the University provide strategic advice, planning support and policy guidance across the Indigenous Strategy and Services portfolio
  • coordinate governance, compliance, risk management and reporting activities for key portfolio initiatives
  • prepare executive briefings, discussion papers, reports and committee papers for senior leadership forums
  • monitor and report on the delivery of strategic priorities, projects and operational plans
  • build and maintain effective relationships with faculties, portfolios and key internal stakeholders to support collaboration and outcomes.
About you
  • demonstrated experience providing executive-level support and strategic advice to senior leaders within a large and complex organisation
  • extensive experience in governance, policy development, project management and organisational planning
  • demonstrated experience supporting budget planning, forecasting and financial reporting, including monitoring financial performance and providing advice on financial risks and priorities within a complex organisation
  • demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and contemporary Indigenous matters
  • knowledge of governance and management structures within the higher education, vocational education and/or government sectors
  • relevant postgraduate qualifications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • demonstrated experience building stakeholder partnerships and influencing outcomes across diverse organisational environments.
