Job summary

Charles Sturt University invites a senior Indigenous leader to join as Pro Vice-Chancellor, First Nations Strategy. This role provides strategic direction, cultural authority, and high-level advice across the university, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor.

The role leads strategy development, implementation and evaluation to embed First Nations priorities in all university life, shaping inclusive outcomes and engagement across campuses.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success leading organisation-wide First Nations strategies, initiatives or transformation programs.
• Established cultural authority, credibility and deep understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
• Strong capability in building collaborative relationships across senior leaders, operational teams and First Nations communities.
• Experience navigating complex or highly regulated environments to progress strategic priorities.
• Demonstrated people leadership that supports culturally safe practice and develops capability in others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of Charles Sturt First Nations Strategy across the university.
• Provide visible and influential leadership to shape institutional priorities and champion First Nations excellence.
• Build strong relationships and navigate complex environments to influence executive decisions across faculties and divisions.
• Represent the university in matters of significance to First Nations peoples and strengthen leadership, student success and employment pathways.
