Lead Clinical Governance and Cultural Transformation in Central Queensland!

We're seeking a Clinical Governance Leader to drive compliance with national standards, legislation, and accreditation requirements — while embedding a just culture and learning organisation mindset across the health service.

Our successful candidate will:

  • Influence clinicians and staff on the frontline to speak up, reflect, and continuously improve
  • Partner with executive leadership, professional leads, and operational service leaders to deliver high-quality care
  • Translate insights and lessons learned into actionable improvements across the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS) and Queensland Health

We are looking for a proven leader who can operate at all levels — from engaging frontline staff to holding their own with specialists, professors, and regulatory bodies.

  • Be part of a cultural transformation focussed on learning and continuous improvement.
  • Shape a safer, more transparent health system for the region.
  • Enjoy the benefits of a regional lifestyle:
  • Affordable living with space for family and homeownership.
  • Easy access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, national parks, and coastal escapes.
  • A welcoming community and balanced pace of life.

This is more than a leadership role — it is your chance to transform culture, improve patient safety, and make a tangible impact on a whole region.

About us:

Central Queensland Health, the region's largest health employer, offers a rewarding career and a balanced lifestyle. Join a team of over 4,000 professionals providing quality public healthcare across our regional, rural, and remote facilities. We offer competitive benefits, stable employment, and flexible conditions, all while you enjoy the perks of living in Central Queensland—like 300 sunny days a year, short commutes, and a low cost of living.

About the role:

As the Executive Director, Clinical Governance, Quality, and Safety, you will lead the strategy and planning for clinical governance, quality, and safety at CQHHS. You will also be a key contributor to the Executive team and be responsible for driving clinical and consumer engagement initiatives.

About you:
  • You have a deep understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and other relevant health standards.
  • You have demonstrated expertise in leading, implementing, and managing an organisation's external certification and accreditation processes.
  • You have a track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with executives, health professionals, and government stakeholders.
  • You're skilled at balancing daily operational demands with long-term improvement initiatives, especially under resource constraints.
  • You have outstanding writing and reporting skills, with a proven ability to create clear, effective communications for a wide range of audiences, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
What we offer:

Total remuneration value of $263,731 - $284,962 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary between $202,404 - $220,983 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
  • Executive Vehicle Allowance

Additional Benefits

  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
