State Government of Victoria is advertising two Executive Control Coordinator positions with the Department of Justice and Community Safety's Emergency Management Victoria. The roles provide high‑level executive support to the State Response Controller and Duty Commissioners within the State Control Centre, operating on a 7-day roster across shifts.

These are fixed-term, full-time opportunities (one until Feb 2028 and the other until Aug 2027) at VPS Grade 4 with salaries ranging from $100,894

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements is desirable.
  • Previous experience in the operations of government is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field would be desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level customer service, including executive support to the State Response Controller and Duty Commissioners within the State Control Centre.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and lead internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain governance and information management processes.
  • Support coordination of executive and secretariat processes, monitoring workflows and action follow-ups.
  • Communicate activation levels, meetings, briefings and products in consultation with the Watch Desk Lead.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking two Executive Control Coordinators to provide a critical role at the State Control Centre.

About the Business Unit

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, is responsible for the overall coordination of the emergency management system in Victoria.

EMV drives the integration of policy, strategy, operational coordination, sector specific technology, and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities.

EMV works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The organisation is led by the Deputy Secretary & Chief Executive, and Emergency Management Commissioner, and includes oversight of statutory entities and offices and the department's emergency management accountabilities.

EMV has legislative responsibility for managing the State Control Centre (SCC), Victoria's primary control centre for managing emergencies. It comprises a Watch Desk, which provides a base service and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and stewardship teams that are functionally aligned to the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) framework and principles. Stewardship teams focus on sector-wide governance, coordination and engagement, capability building, strategic planning and continuous improvement. They also support internal SCC business and provide core operational support to the SCC, as needed.

The role works on a 7-day roster. The incumbent will be required to work day and afternoon shifts, across a 7-day roster, including on weekends and public holidays.

You will be required to undertake emergency management roles in the SCC and other locations as required, and commensurate with relevant training and endorsements. This may require work outside your rostered hours.

About the Role

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide high-level customer service, including the management and delivery of executive support to the State Response Controller, Emergency Management Commissioner and Duty Commissioners within the State Control Centre.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, identify emerging issues with stakeholders to create shared solutions and lead internal and external stakeholder engagement to ensure the executive support function is effective.
  • Maintain and provide support to ensuring strong record keeping and governance of information/information management.
  • Support coordination of executive and secretariat processes by monitoring workflows, inbox management, tracking actions, and ensuring timely follow-up of decisions and requests.
  • In consultation with the Watch Desk Lead, communicate the appropriate activation level of the SCC, timing of meetings, briefings and products.
