You’ll excavate trenches, place pipes, backfill, and maintain equipment while upholding WHS standards. The role suits skilled operators who value workmanship and a tight-knit crew, with long-term, secure employment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience operating excavators in civil drainage or pipe-laying environments.
• Proven experience lifting and installing large pipes.
• Strong knowledge of WHS procedures and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 35-tonne excavator on civil drainage projects.
• Safely crane and place large pipes and drainage structures.
• Backfill and compact trenches to specification.
• Assist with trench support and shoring installation.
• Support the crew with general site duties as required.
• Maintain plant and equipment to a high standard.

Experienced Excavator Operator – 35T Machine (Pipe Crew)

Family-Owned Civil Drainage Company | Full-Time | South East QLD

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, our family-owned civil drainage company is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled operator who thrives in a tight-knit crew, takes pride in their work, and enjoys delivering high-quality drainage and civil projects across South East Queensland.

We work alongside some of the largest civil contractors in Brisbane, Ipswich and Moreton Bay, delivering consistent, professional results.

About the Role

You will be operating a 35-tonne excavator on civil drainage projects, working directly alongside one or both company directors in a hands-on, team-focused environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Excavating and preparing trenches for sewer, stormwater and water main installation
• Safely craning and placing large pipes and drainage structures
• Backfilling and compacting deep trenches to specification
• Assisting with trench support and shoring installation
• Supporting the crew with general site duties as required
• Maintaining plant and equipment to a high standard
• Strictly adhering to all Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators in civil drainage or pipe-laying environments
• Proven experience lifting and installing large pipes
• Strong knowledge of WHS procedures and safe work practices
• Ability to work efficiently within a small, high-performing team
• Reliable, motivated and committed to quality workmanship

Required Licences & Tickets

• Current Excavator Ticket (RIIMPO320F or equivalent)
• QLD Driver’s Licence and reliable transport
• Construction White Card
• Current PPE

Highly Regarded (But Not Essential)

• GPS experience
• Final trim or detailed excavation experience
