Details:

Join the team at Events ACT as an Event Officer and play a key role in bringing some of Canberra’s most exciting events to life. We are seeking an organised professional to support and contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of large-scale events in the ACT.

As an Event Officer, you will assist with project management tasks, including managing timelines, budgets, and reporting to the Assistant Director of Event Delivery. You will be responsible for coordinating suppliers, managing volunteers, and ensuring workplace health and safety standards are upheld. Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of operational plans, procurement processes, and contract documentation. Collaboration with various teams across Events ACT will be essential to maintaining positive relationships and ensuring effective communication.

We are looking for someone with experience in event planning and delivery or relevant transferrable skills. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively under pressure is crucial for this role. Strong communication skills and experience working in a team environment are also important.

If you are passionate about events and ready to contribute to Canberra’s vibrant event scene, we encourage you to apply. Flexibility to work occasional public holidays, weekends, or evenings during key event periods will be required.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Notes:

A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.

This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.

Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT with flexible start, and finish times.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved. More information can be found here ACT Closing the Gap Implementation Plan - ACT Government Transparency Portal.
