Job description

Ready to take the next step in your events career?

A fast-growing national law firm is looking for an experienced Events Advisor or Events Coordinator who is ready to step up and take ownership of its events function.

This is a standalone, hands-on Events Manager role within the Business Development & Marketing team. You’ll be responsible for the firm's events program from end to end, working closely with partners and senior stakeholders to plan and deliver client, industry and internal events across the business.

It’s an opportunity to move beyond coordinating events for someone else and take genuine ownership of the function, with the autonomy to bring your ideas, improve how things are done and make the role your own.

The opportunity

You’ll manage the firm's events program from initial brief through to delivery and post-event analysis.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both the big picture and the detail. One day you might be working with a partner on the objectives for a client event, the next negotiating with a venue, managing invitations or dealing with a last-minute change on the day.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Planning and coordinating the firm's client, industry and internal events program from end to end
  • Working with partners and senior stakeholders to understand objectives and deliver events that support client relationships and business development
  • Managing guest lists, invitations, venues, catering, facilities and event logistics
  • Developing event concepts and promotional activity to maximise awareness, attendance and engagement
  • Sourcing, briefing and managing external suppliers and vendors
  • Negotiating costs and building strong supplier relationships
  • Preparing, managing and tracking event budgets and ensuring costs remain on track
  • Managing events on the day and ensuring everything runs smoothly
  • Troubleshooting issues as they arise and managing last-minute changes with a calm, solutions-focused approach
  • Reporting on attendance, feedback and outcomes following events
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the firm's events program and bring fresh ideas to how events are delivered
About you

You may currently be working as an Events Advisor, Events Coordinator or in a similar role and be ready to step into a standalone Events Manager position.

Ideally, you’ll have experience within a law firm and understand the dynamics of a partnership environment. You’ll be comfortable working with partners and senior stakeholders, managing competing priorities and influencing without direct authority.

Just as importantly, you’ll enjoy being hands‑on. This isn't a role where you'll simply oversee an events strategy from a distance. You'll be involved in the detail and will take ownership of making each event successful.

You’ll bring:

  • Solid experience planning and delivering events from start to finish, ideally within a law firm
  • An understanding of the partnership model and how to work effectively with partners and senior stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Confidence managing multiple events, deadlines and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing event budgets, suppliers and external vendors
  • Strong attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of the firm's events function
  • A proactive approach and the ability to bring ideas to the table
  • A willingness to get into the detail and be hands‑on throughout the event lifecycle
  • Flexibility to work occasional events outside standard business hours

If you have built a strong foundation in events within a law firm and are now looking for the opportunity to step up, take ownership and have greater influence over the events program, this could be a great next move.

You’ll join a growing national law firm with an energetic and collaborative culture, where marketing and business development are closely connected to the firm's broader growth strategy.

As the standalone events specialist, you’ll have genuine ownership of your area and the opportunity to shape how the firm's events program evolves.

You’ll also have access to:

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Learning, development and mentoring opportunities
  • Performance-based rewards and incentive programs
  • Paid parental leave and additional milestone leave
  • Education assistance and an Employee Assistance Program
  • Corporate discounts and novated leasing
  • Opportunities to contribute to community and pro-bono initiatives
  • A collaborative environment where new ideas are encouraged and people are given the opportunity to make an impact
