Job summary

HIX Group is seeking an Estimator / Electrical & ITS to support delivery of Traffic Signals and ITS projects in NSW. You will prepare cost estimates, coordinate procurement, and assist with tender submissions while working with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

The role involves reviewing specifications, developing bills of quantities, tracking costs, and contributing to value engineering. A strong background in estimating software and TfNSW standards is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating, project coordination, construction administration, or operations support.
• Knowledge of Transport for NSW standards and specifications.
• Experience using estimating software.
• Experience in Traffic Signals, Electrical Infrastructure, ITS, Civil Construction, or Telecommunications.
• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Electrical Technology, or related field.

Estimator / Electrical & Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)

The Estimator / Operations is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of Traffic Signals and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) projects through accurate estimating, project coordination, procurement, scheduling, and operational support.

The role will work closely with project managers, supervisors, clients, suppliers, and field crews to ensure projects are competitively priced, efficiently delivered, and completed safely, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for Traffic Signal and ITS projects.
• Review client specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and tender documents.
• Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Develop bills of quantities and material take-offs.
• Assist with the preparation of tender submissions.
• Identify project risks and opportunities during the estimating process.
• Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.

Operations & Project Support

• Assist with project mobilisation and planning activities.
• Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, traffic control, and materials.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, local councils, Transport for NSW representatives, and suppliers.
• Monitor project progress against budgets and schedules.
• Assist in managing procurement and supplier orders.
• Support project managers in the administration of contracts.
• Track variations, claims, and project cost adjustments.
• Ensure project documentation is maintained and updated.

Traffic Signals & ITS Responsibilities

Support the delivery of:

• Traffic Signal installations and upgrades
• Pedestrian crossing systems
• SCATS infrastructure
• Vehicle Detection Systems
• CCTV Systems
• Variable Message Signs (VMS)
• Communications Networks
• Electrical ITS infrastructure
• Smart City infrastructure

Review traffic signal designs and ITS specifications.

Coordinate commissioning and testing requirements.

Assist with TfNSW compliance documentation and approvals.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in estimating, project coordination, construction administration, or operations support.
