Job summary

Downer is seeking an Estimator to join our Transport & Infrastructure team based in NSW or QLD. As an Estimator, you will deliver high-quality tenders and cost estimates, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure submissions are accurate, compliant and aligned with business objectives.

This role requires a degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, experience in asphalt/civil estimating, and proficiency with Benchmark Estimating software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience in estimating, ideally within asphalt, surfacing, spray seal or civil projects.
• Familiarity with Benchmark Estimating software.
• Ability to interpret drawings and develop detailed cost estimates.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
• Strategic thinker with attention to detail and passion for winning work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit RFT/RFQ tenders accurately and on time.
• Produce first-principles cost estimates, incorporating supplier and subcontractor inputs.
• Interpret drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and scope project activities.
• Maintain estimating databases, quote registers, and documentation.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors professionally.
• Partner with Sales and Account teams to prioritise and support bids.
• Present tender submissions internally and to clients.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
