Job summary

GenusPlus Group in North Sydney is seeking a detail‑driven Estimator to join our team. You will analyse project docs, prepare estimates for materials, labour and time, and contribute to tender strategies and bid development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Estimating within utilities, construction, or related sectors.
• Solid understanding of Occupational Health & Safety.
• Current National Police Clearance and a valid C Class Driver’s Licence.
• High proficiency with cost estimating software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Ability to dissect EBA impacts on cost and productivity.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse project documentation, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate and timely cost estimates
• Prepare and manage pre-contract financial, material, labour, and time estimates
• Provide input into tender strategy, pricing structures, and bid development
• Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams to gather and verify cost data
• Maintain cost databases, supplier directories, and estimating tools
• Prepare post-tender documentation including detailed expenditure breakdowns and initial project schedules
• Review and maintain the schedule of rates in conjunction with Operations
• Ensure quality and consistency in tender submissions across technical, commercial, and financial aspects
• Track industry trends, pricing changes, and cost-saving opportunities

About You:

Essential Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Estimating, ideally within utilities, construction, communication, or related sectors
• Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health & Safety
• Current National Police Clearance and a valid "C" Class Driver’s Licence
• High-level proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under strict deadlines
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction drawings
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to dissect and understand EBA impacts on cost and productivity

Desirable:

• Qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, or Project Management
• Experience using enterprise estimating programs such as CATS
• Senior First Aid and CPR certification
• Previous experience in utilities, construction, or resource industries
