Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. You will prepare accurate cost estimates for civil, structural, mechanical and piping projects across surface and underground mining operations, and work with various teams through the bid process.

You will mentor other estimators, manage estimating workflows and contribute to process improvements. The role requires regular travel to MCA branches across NSW and QLD and offers flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in an estimating role within mining, heavy industry or construction.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer literacy.
• Experience negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates by reviewing project drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Assist with bid/no-bid evaluations and tender strategy.
• Develop detailed costings covering labour, materials, plant, equipment and subcontractors.
• Source, negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare high-quality tender submissions.
• Manage estimating schedules to ensure submission deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Travel regularly to MCA Engineering branches and operational sites to support workshops, tender planning and project reviews.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a diverse range of civil, structural, mechanical and piping projects for both surface and underground mining operations.

Working closely with the Senior Estimator, Operations and Engineering teams, you will play an integral role in the bid process, from opportunity assessment through to submission. You will also mentor other estimators, manage estimating workflows and contribute to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes.

This position offers flexible hybrid working arrangements. Regular travel to MCA Engineering branches across NSW and QLD is an essential requirement of the role.
