Downer is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead estimating activities across water and wastewater opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. You will head a team of estimators, govern major pursuits and partner with clients, partners and suppliers to deliver successful tender outcomes.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimating Manager to join our Energy & Utilities Water Growth team. Reporting to the Head of Pre Contracts Water, you will lead estimating activities across major water and wastewater opportunities throughout Australia and New Zealand.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing competitive, commercially sound and deliverable solutions that support the continued growth of our Water business. You will lead a team of estimators, provide governance and assurance across major pursuits, and partner closely with operational leaders, clients, partners and suppliers to deliver successful tender outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading accurate, timely and competitive estimates for water infrastructure projects
Developing estimating strategies and pricing solutions for major pursuits
Assessing scope, contracts, resources, risks and opportunities
Managing governance, assurance and approval processes
Supporting effective project handover to delivery teams
Driving innovation, standardisation and continuous improvement
Coaching, mentoring and developing a high performing estimating team
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
More than 15 years of construction and/or estimating experience
More than 10 years of experience within major infrastructure or water design and construct environments
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing estimating or construction teams
Strong commercial, technical and analytical capability
Proven ability to interpret complex technical and contractual requirements
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills
Experience developing tender strategies and delivering successful bid outcomes
Water operations and maintenance experience will be highly regarded
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
