As the Cyber Security Analyst, you will be at the front line of the eSafety’s cyber defence. Your day-to-day will involve delivery of a range of strategic and tactical cyber security activities to protect our information and systems from cyber security threats.

You will be a key contributor to the implementation of the eSafety’s cyber security strategy and support the development of security policy, standards, processes and procedures to enable us to achieve our cyber security objectives.

The Cyber Security Analyst reports to the IT Security & Operations Manager and works consultatively and collaboratively with all members of the IT Security team, and key project personnel that support cyber security maturity uplift and resilience initiatives. You will use your specialist skills and draw from your experience to inform, guide and advise leaders, peers and stakeholders on cyber security matters of the Technology, Data & Digital Enablement Branch.

The key duties of the position include:

  • deploying, configuring and maintaining technologies to detect and respond to cyber security threats
  • monitoring, analysing and responding to cyber security events and incidents
  • gathering, assessing and reporting on cyber threat intelligence and cyber security trends
  • contribute to governance, risk and compliance activities, including security reviews and audits, system authorisation processes, and threat, risk, and security assessments
  • providing advice and specialist cyber security expertise to the business, to enable business outcomes that adhere to security policy and align with strategic security objectives
  • actively monitoring and responding to developments in the security landscape, including maintaining awareness and contemporary knowledge of industry best practice and Australian Government security policies and frameworks such as the PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight
  • develop and maintain collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers, to ensure effective and sustainable design and implementation of security solutions.
Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cyber Security Analyst who is looking to make a difference in a small agency with a critical remit.

Our ideal candidate:

  • is committed to continuously developing their technical skills and knowledge of relevant policies and framework
  • enjoys hands-on technical work while also understanding the broader organisational and security context
  • has strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.

The following experience would be highly regarded:

  • Operating and supporting cyber security tools and technologies, including SIEM/SOAR platforms, endpoint and network detection and response solutions, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Configuring, managing and optimising security logging and monitoring capabilities.
  • Conducting threat hunting activities, analysing security events and developing actionable insights.
  • Experience with complying with Australian Government Cyber security frameworks, policies and processes.
