Job summary

HorizonOne works with a range of Australian Government departments and agencies, supporting recruitment across labour hire and non-ongoing contracts, from short-term assignments to longer-term opportunities.

High-performing contractors may have opportunities to extend their contracts or secure ongoing APS employment.

With strong demand across our network and many of our active candidates already placed, we’re seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified Media Officers interested in exploring their next opportunity.

We also support existing APS employees with Section 26 (s26) temporary and permanent transfers between eligible Commonwealth departments and agencies, helping candidates take the next step in their careers.

The Role

The responsibilities of each position vary, but as a Media Officer, you will be:

• Providing high-quality advice on media issues to the department and minister’s office
• Developing proactive media strategies, media ready content and responses to media enquiries
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of a range of complex and strategic media solutions

The Ideal Person

To be considered for an APS5 – APS6 Media Officer opportunity you’ll have 2-5 years of experience, preferably within the APS, with a qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing.

You will have the ability to work in time sensitive environments and build productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be flexible in responding to changing priorities.

Australian citizenship and a minimum baseline security clearance are required to apply.

Salary / Rate

• APS5 salary range: $90k – $98k + 15.4% super
• APS6 salary range: $100k – $114k + 15.4% super
• Please note that the salary range may differ depending on the federal government department/agency
