The opportunity

To support us on this journey, we’re looking for a Senior Associate level hire to join our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team in Melbourne. We are open to both full-time and part-time arrangements, and we work hybrid which to ensure a great work-life balance.

You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready site investigation, environmental due diligence, portfolio assessment and advisory and remediation planning to help rehabilitate or repurpose existing or derelict mining, petroleum contaminated sites, as well as government sector assets for new uses.

You will balance technical work and staff development with the support of a well-established multi-disciplinary Environmental services business.

Our recent projects include:

  • University of Melbourne – environmental assessment and remediation of the complex former Holden site in Port Melbourne, to support redevelopment of this prize location as a future learning campus
  • Orica Australia – environmental assessment, probabilistic cost and volume modelling, and soil and groundwater remediation to support Audit of the two main Orica sites in Victoria: Yarraville and Deer Park
  • Viva Energy – geotechnical and environmental assessment, environmental management and compliance, boundary containment system operation and maintenance, contamination management and operations environmental services
  • Victorian rail and road infrastructure projects – client and contractor-side geotechnical and environmental site assessment services for multiple projects
  • Property Development – acquisition due-diligence, duty to manage/general environmental duty, environmental assessment for development, pre-development remediation and construction support to numerous clients

Our project pipeline is strong with increasing work in the aviation and airports space (national and international airline and airport clients), Government and Commonwealth project sites (Defence and Airservices, among others) as well as remote and mine-swing works interstate.

About you

The successful candidate will be a natural connector and a problem solver with a powerful team spirit.

You will typically have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in assessing site contamination and overseeing remediation programs.

You will also bring the following skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated track record of Client and Project Management excellence
  • Deep technical knowledge in the Contaminated Land Management discipline, specifically broad knowledge of soil contaminants, remediation strategies, site sampling technique, investigation and remediation technologies for groundwater, soil and gas, etc.
  • Understanding of local regulations pertaining to the management of contaminated sites
  • Some team leadership experience, including in developing and attracting talent to achieve growth – or at least a desire to mentor and train junior staff and grow local business
