Job summary

UGL is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in western Queensland. You'll provide on-site environmental management, compliance, reporting and stakeholder engagement across all construction phases.

You will work closely with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to promote responsible practices, embed environmental plans and drive continuous improvement on a long-term energy infrastructure program.

Qualifications

• Experience as an onsite Environmental Advisor within renewable energy, power, utilities, or other major project environments.
• Qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline with knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting environmental compliance across large-scale renewable energy, transmission, substation or BESS construction projects, including site inspections and reporting activities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence positive environmental outcomes across project teams and subcontractors.
• A solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work a DIDO roster and build strong working relationships across site teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day environmental support across construction activities, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Embed and maintain environmental management plans, procedures and associated documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with environmental incidents, investigations, corrective actions and compliance reporting.
• Work closely with project teams, supervisors and subcontractors to promote environmental awareness and drive continuous improvement.
