Job summary

Children’s Ground in Alice Springs seeks an Environmental Health Promotion Coordinator to lead environmental health initiatives across five communities, delivering health improvements through the Family Health and Wellbeing Framework and Close collaboration with First Nations leadership.

You will oversee two Orange Sky Laundry trucks, supervise staff, schedule service delivery, support tenancy and home upkeep, and work with local families to promote health, safety, and culturally safe practices

Responsibilities

• Work within the Children’s Ground Family Health and Wellbeing Framework Health in the Hands of the People, to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the communities we work with.
• With the community, develop, assess, and monitor environmental health needs, and manage and implement responses to create improved health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations people across the region
• Ensure that the Environmental Health team is accessible to all First Nations people in the communities where we work.
• Support the delivery of health and wellbeing information and services in first language and support local cultural knowledge, life, and lore.
• Work with the Learning and Wellbeing Team to support the integration of health and wellbeing into daily learning and development initiatives across CG.
• Ensure OrangeSky laundry trucks and Environmental Health trailers are deployed Monday to Friday. Support attendees to manage the assets appropriately and facilitate their utilisation across the communities.
• Roster and supervise laundry and environmental health trailers with local First Nations people in the community.
• Development and implementation of environmental health promotion initiatives as identified and prioritised by community, including but not limited to: Laundry, House cleans and Yard Cleans
• Meet regularly with local First Nations families to discuss local aspirations, to inform directions and responsibilities of Children’s Ground.
• Ensure participants have access to information and services that will assist them to maintain their tenancies or address tenancy issues.
• Encourage and support First Nations, valuing their ideas, strategies and aspirations
• Provide mentoring, management, and guidance to staff to develop professional, trusting, and respectful relationships with people in the region.
