Job summary

City of Whyalla is seeking an Environmental Health Officer to protect public and environmental health across Whyalla. The role involves regulatory, compliance and education tasks to meet legislative requirements.

You will conduct inspections of food premises, pools and personal services, investigate notifiable diseases with SA Health, and contribute to policy development. Students nearing completion are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Qualified to appointment as a local Authorised Officer under the Public Health Act.
• Eligible for membership to Environmental Health Australia.
• C Class Drivers Licence.
• National Police Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
• Non-prohibited Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
• Sharps and infections Waste Handling Training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of food premises, public swimming pools, and personal services to ensure compliance with legislation.
• Investigate public nuisance reports, food safety complaints, and notifiable diseases in collaboration with SA Health.
• Deliver education and awareness programs to the community on public and environmental health issues.
• Contributing to environmental health planning, policy development, and interagency initiatives across the region.
