Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking a hands-on environmental scientist to join our team across North East Victoria. You will collect and analyse environmental samples, support field sampling, and deliver accurate results to clients in both field and laboratory environments.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you’ll visit client sites, calibrate instruments, maintain records and contribute to quality, safety and reporting procedures while helping build lasting client relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in water sampling and reporting field data.
• Valid Victorian driver’s licence.
• Clear communication skills and ability to discuss technical issues.
• Organised, detail‑oriented with a strong focus on customer service.
• Ability to safely perform field sampling at client sites.
• Collaborative approach and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Previous lab or field sampling experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out environmental sampling, testing and analysis in line with relevant standards and client requirements.
• Visit client sites and provide sample collection and delivery services.
• Prepare sample bottles and support sample receipt activities.
• Check and calibrate field instruments to ensure reliable results.
• Keep clear, accurate records and prepare and issue analytical reports on time.
• Support risk assessments, internal audits and compliance with SGS quality and safety procedures.
• Build positive client relationships, attend client meetings and identify opportunities to support their needs through SGS services.
