Job summary

ERM is seeking a consultant to join our Mergers & Acquisitions and Sustainable Operations team in Australia. You will contribute to ESG due diligence, EHS advice and sustainable operation projects for leading organisations, with a focus on delivering practical, client-ready outcomes.

Autonomy and collaboration define the role as you work with a national team, travel within Australia (and occasionally beyond), and help turn sustainability into value while maintaining the highest health and safety

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in science, engineering or environmental management (or equivalent).
  • Proven track record in ESG/EHS/Sustainability consulting.
  • Experience in environmental/ESG due diligence, EHS compliance or related consulting (2+ years).
  • Strong fieldwork, reporting and client-facing skills, with site visits in Sydney.
  • Desirable exposure to mergers and acquisitions, asset divestment or project finance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports and deliver high-quality client outputs.
  • Conduct site visits and EHS audits as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engage with clients to maintain relationships and deliver practical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with ERM teams and contribute to global technical communities.
  • Balance priorities and manage deadlines with a focus on health and safety.

As part of the continued growth of our Mergers & Acquisitions and Sustainable Operations team, ERM has an opportunity for a consultant to join our global firm, which has Sustainability at its heart. Our clients are under increasing pressure to prioritise the environment, health, safety and social performance and reduce operational risk while remaining competitive. You will work as part of a team that helps our clients respond to these demands and turn sustainability from a necessary cost to a value creator. You will join a national team working alongside some of Australia's leading technical experts on a portfolio of opportunities that spans ESG due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, ESG / EHS advice and services aligned to the sustainable operation of the world's leading organisations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this fast-paced and dynamic role you will be involved in multidisciplinary projects across a broad range of ERM clients with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Preparing technical reports
  • Conducting site visits, including EHS audits
  • Being a key part of large multidisciplinary project teams
  • Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery
  • Building a strong network of resources by nurturing working relationships within ERM and participating in global technical communities
ABOUT YOU

We're looking for a team player with strong interpersonal skills who thrives on variety.

  • Degree qualified in science, engineering or environmental management (or equivalent), with EHS qualifications a bonus
  • A proven track record in ESG/EHS/Sustainability consulting
  • Environmental/ESG due diligence, EHS compliance, operational risk, environmental management or related consulting experience (typically 2+ years)
  • Strong fieldwork, stakeholder communication and report writing skills, including the ability to independently undertake site visits (particularly in the Sydney region), interview personnel, assess EHS risks, develop practical recommendations, and communicate findings through clear, concise and client-ready deliverables
  • Exposure to ESG aspects of mergers and acquisitions, asset divestment, project finance, private equity, liability assessment and transaction advisory is desirable
  • Solid commercial acumen, business development and project management skills
  • A total commitment to health and safety
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with experience writing proposals
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines
  • A willingness to travel, both within Australia and, on occassion, internationally
  • Current driving license
