Job summary

CPB Contractors in Brisbane is seeking an Environmental Advisor to lead the environmental aspects of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, reporting to the Environmental Manager.

You will manage on-site environmental controls, conduct site inspections and audits, and support planning approvals while maintaining EMS documents with a strong focus on erosion and sediment control, air quality, noise, heritage and a zero-harm safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ equivalent experience within a similar role in civil construction

Responsibilities

• Practical implementation of on-site environmental controls across erosion and sediment control, noise and vibration, air quality and heritage

The Project

The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail (LGC) Project will double the number of rail tracks and upgrade stations for a section of the Gold Coast Line from Kuraby, a suburb approximately 16km south of Brisbane’s CBD, to Beenleigh, a suburb of Logan City.

Your opportunity

Reporting into the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Advisor will lead, plan, organise and control the environmental aspects of LGCFR, including the development, implementation and control of project environmental plans.

The role is responsible for:

• Day-to-day management of all on-site environmental aspects including field testing, site inspections, and any monitoring requirements within their designated areas.
• Practical implementation of on-site environmental controls across a wide range of environmental aspects (e.g. erosion and sediment control, noise and vibration, air quality, heritage)
• Supporting the applications for secondary planning approvals in consultation with the design and construction teams
• Lead internal audits against EMS as well as developing, implementing and maintaining the Environmental Management Plans and associated documents

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Minimum 5 years’ equivalent experience within a similar role in the Civil Construction industry
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast-paced project environment and deliver on deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to develop and carry out varied environmental monitoring regimes in compliance with relevant standards
• Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control or equivalent experience
• Personal accountability for own development and performance within the broader the project team
• Hold proven verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain relationships across diverse stakeholders
• Lateral thinker with the ability to critically interrogate information
• Focus and commitment to a zero harm environment
