Job Description:

The ATO is a seeking Service Provider with expertise in technical communications, technical illustration, graphic design, and information design.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is striving to become a more data-driven, client-centric organisation by using data and analytics to improve the administration of tax and superannuation systems. The ATO is collecting increasingly greater volumes of data from a wide variety of sources. To support and inform ATO business decisions, this data must be curated and discoverable, accessible, and usable.

To achieve this the ATO is currently undertaking a complex multi-year program which aims to create extensible data patterns, migrate off on-premise systems into cloud native solutions and improve its data matching and sharing capabilities.

To support such a complex program of work the ATO requires a Service Provider with expertise in technical communications, technical illustration, graphic design, and information design. These capabilities are required to influence and inform critical stakeholders to ensure program success.

The Service Provider will be required to:

  • Deliver technical documentation and artefacts as specified in monthly milestones.
  • To be able to support the delivery of any ad-hoc artefacts not specified in monthly milestones within short timeframes (i.e: within a working week).
  • Deliver technical documentation that allow business stakeholders to easily understand complicated system flows, data flows and technical concepts.
  • Ensure all deliverables are non-proprietary and in editable formats.

Every application requires to address selection criteria as part of application submission.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with technical illustration, graphic design, and information design in the Information Technology (or related) fields. (10+ years is desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience working with large government agencies and an understanding of typical governance polices and processes that are prevalent in these work environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating technical information to influence senior executive stakeholders and delivery committees.
  • Demonstrated experience of being able to understand technical architecture with little to no assistance.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience illustrating end-to-end system and data flows for consumption by a business audience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing interactive media products for consumption.
  • Demonstrated experience applying government and best practice industry principles, such as Brand Guidelines and WCAG2.0
  • A verifiable portfolio of work which should be provided as a part of the Service Provider response.
