Job summary

IAG is seeking an Enterprise Cyber Security Architect to shape the strategic direction for cloud and infrastructure security, defining target-state architectures and roadmaps that guide technology investment across Australia and New Zealand.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations and business teams, translating complex security challenges into practical solutions while balancing risk, cost and resilience to support trusted, secure outcomes for millions of customers.

• Identify cyber security risks, control gaps and technical debt, recommending practical solutions.
• Influence architecture decisions balancing security, resilience, cost and delivery outcomes.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, principles and standards for secure by design.

As an Enterprise Cyber Security Architect, you'll define the strategic direction for cloud and infrastructure security, establishing target-state architectures and roadmaps that guide technology investment and transformation. Working across architecture, engineering and operational teams, you'll ensure security decisions are practical, achievable and supportable in real-world environments. You'll influence senior stakeholders, balance risk with business outcomes, and drive secure-by-default practices that strengthen resilience while enabling innovation. This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne).

What You'll Do

• Define cyber security architecture strategy, target states and multi-year roadmaps across cloud and infrastructure security capabilities.
• Guide major transformation programs by providing strategic architecture direction while working closely with delivery, engineering and operational teams to ensure security outcomes are practical, implementable and sustainable.
• Partner with enterprise architects, engineering teams and business stakeholders to align security outcomes with organisational goals.
• Identify cyber security risks, control gaps and technical debt, recommending practical solutions that account for operational realities, delivery constraints and ongoing support requirements.
• Influence architecture and technology decisions by balancing security, resilience, customer experience, cost, operational supportability and delivery outcomes.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, principles and standards that enable secure by design and secure by default practices.
• Stay connected to engineering and operational practices, ensuring architecture decisions are informed by real-world implementation, operational experience and lessons learned.

What You'll Bring

• Experience leading cyber security architecture within large, complex enterprise environments, complemented by hands‑on experience delivering, operating or supporting security and technology platforms.
• Strong capability across cloud security, infrastructure, identity, networks and Zero Trust principles, with a practical understanding of how these capabilities are implemented and operated in production environments.
• Ability to develop architecture strategies, roadmaps and target state technology directions.
• Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and influencing decisions without direct authority.
• Strong judgement balancing cyber risk, business priorities, operational realities and practical delivery considerations.
• Experience working within regulated industries such as financial services, insurance or similar environments.
• A collaborative approach and ability to turn complex security challenges into clear, actionable outcomes.
• Experience working in engineering, infrastructure, cloud, security operations or platform delivery roles before moving into architecture is highly regarded.
