Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and reasoning about tradeoffs between cloud, hybrid, and on-premises approaches.
• Experience building full-stack solutions that interface with enterprise systems, including writing and reviewing production code, with demonstrated depth in at least one major language or stack.
• Experience architecting data and analytics systems on cloud platforms.
• Experience engaging with, or presenting to, client-side technical leads and executive stakeholders.

The Team

Our technology teams design and build the systems that support A&M's performance improvement, turnaround, and advisory engagements — where architecture decisions have to hold up under real scale, real security requirements, and real cost pressure. As an Enterprise Architect, you will act as the deep technical bridge between a client's business problems and the systems that solve them, owning technical direction across application/solution, data, security, and cloud/infrastructure architecture for both client engagements and A&M's internal platforms.

This is a hands-on role: you will run discovery with stakeholders, prototype critical integrations, write and review code, and validate your own designs in the client's actual environment, architecting for the platform that fits each engagement's context — cloud, hybrid, or on-premises. The role is Sydney-based and hybrid, with roughly 20-30% travel to client sites for architecture workshops and stakeholder alignment. You will set technical direction that engineering teams build against, work alongside client-side architects on problems with real consequences, and be accountable for whether the architecture actually works in production.

How you will contribute

• Lead in-depth technical discovery sessions to understand client requirements and their current technology landscape. Define target-state architecture across application, data, security, and cloud/infrastructure domains, and run iterative workshops with stakeholders to lock in scope, architecting with the end state in mind
• Move seamlessly from high-level architecture to low-level implementation. Code, build, and deploy systems so that technical designs translate into functional, integrated realities, and validate the feasibility of your own designs
• Architect and engineer enterprise-grade solutions such as agentic workflows, RAG systems, and applied foundation models, backed by highly scalable infrastructure including event-driven microservices, containerized workloads, and serverless compute, built on whichever platform fits the client's context (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, hybrid, or on-premises)
• Engineer functional proofs-of-value that integrate with the client's as-is systems to demonstrate real business value. Own the technical pre-sales cycle from initial scoping and architecture design through to delivery, ensuring builds adhere to engineering best practices, security standards, and scalability guidelines
• Lead architecture reviews and governance, setting the standards engineering teams build against and ensuring decisions account for security, compliance, scalability, and cost at enterprise scale. Partner with client-side technical leads and mentor engineers across delivery teams by reviewing key designs and decisions

Preferred qualifications

• 12 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including leading modernization of large legacy enterprise systems
• Experience in a consulting or professional services environment, including managing the technical pre-sales cycle from initial scoping and architecture design through to the successful delivery of integrated proofs-of-value
• Experience designing and building advanced analytics or applied AI applications
• Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodology (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent) applied on live engagements, and with the security and compliance requirements of enterprise and regulated clients; relevant certification (TOGAF, cloud architect, or CISSP) a plus
• Experience influencing engineering teams and driving adoption of standards without direct management authority
