Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania invites applications for an Enrolled Nurse at King Island Hospital and Health Centre. You will deliver direct patient-centred nursing care across acute, chronic, community and aged care settings, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

We offer supportive teamwork, ongoing training, and opportunities to develop within a small multidisciplinary team on King Island. Applicants must be enrolled nurse with NMBA registration.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Direct patient care within scope of enrolled nurse under supervision of a registered nurse/midwife.
• Experience delivering care across aged care, acute, chronic and community settings is desirable.

Welcome to King Island Hospital and Health Centre! Our friendly team works closely together as part of the Department of Health to provide caring, high-quality support to our community. As an Enrolled nurse, you’ll play an important role in delivering a range of services—from acute, chronic, community care to emergency support—while being supported through training and teamwork. We’re all here to help make sure the people of King Island get the best care possible in a warm, respectful, and welcoming environment. The Enrolled Nurse provides direct patient/client centred nursing care to assigned patients/clients, within the scope of practice of an enrolled nurse and under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse/midwife to achieve planned patient outcomes.

Details of appointment

Multiple permanent full time and part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing on 6 December 2026. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

Salary $73,109 to $80,524 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type.

Salary Packaging You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Regional Allowances

• District Allowances of up to $4,618 per annum for a family
• Remote Professional Development Allowance of $4,062 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
