Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education is seeking a Middle Leader to lead English learning at Xavier Catholic College in Hervey Bay. You will develop and align the English curriculum with national and state standards, implement effective teaching strategies, and supervise staff to maintain high teaching quality.

You will drive assessment, use data to guide decisions, coordinate work programs, manage resources, and foster partnerships with stakeholders. An inclusive, non-Catholic requirement is stated.

Qualifications

• Developed work programs in alignment with national, state, and local requirements.
• Driving the assessment and moderation process when developing new programs.
• Leading and innovating within a specified curriculum area.
• Stakeholder engagement fostering collaboration and transparency.
• Having responsibility for a financial budget.

Responsibilities

• Leading the coordination of designated curriculum areas taught in the school.
• Applying contemporary research and data analysis to classroom practice through professional development, staff supervision, and induction of new teachers.
• Providing pastoral care for staff engaged in the designated curriculum areas.
• Coordinating and developing work programs aligned with national, state, and local requirements.
• Staying current with curriculum developments and supporting staff learning through ongoing professional reading and research.
• Managing assessment, moderation, and reporting processes, including accurate record-keeping.
• Supervising teaching quality through collegial planning, moderation, classroom observation, and reflective practice.
• Monitoring student learning outcomes using performance data and implementing appropriate interventions.
• Contributing to school leadership through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings.
• Managing financial and material resources, including budget planning and expenditure.
