Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or related field; certifications in marine technology advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of marine systems, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing marine propulsion and auxiliary systems.
  • Analytical ability to assess complex technical issues and implement solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for teamwork with engineers and crews.
  • Team-oriented work in multidisciplinary environments with safety focus.
  • 2–5 years’ marine engineering or related experience, preferably in ships/ports.

We are looking for a skilled Engineering Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in supporting the design, maintenance, and improvement of marine systems and equipment. Your expertise will help ensure vessels operate safely and efficiently within Australian ports

Responsibilities

Engineering Applications: Utilize engineering principles to assist in the design and enhancement of marine systems and equipment. Collaborate with engineering teams to transform concepts into practical solutions.

Routine Maintenance and Repairs: Execute regular maintenance duties, swiftly diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues to uphold equipment reliability. Guarantee compliance with all safety regulations and operational standards.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide timely technical support to vessels docking at Australian ports, troubleshooting issues to ensure seamless operations and reduce vessel downtime.

Equipment Assessment and Testing: Support the evaluation and testing of new marine technologies and equipment, verifying that they meet established performance standards and safety protocols before implementation.

Collaborative Teamwork: Work effectively with a diverse group of engineers, technicians, and maritime crew members. Promote teamwork to facilitate the safe and efficient operation of all marine vessels.

Inspection and Compliance: Conduct inspections of marine vessels to assess their condition, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your insights will contribute to maintaining high operational standards.

Owner Representation During Purchase: Assist ship owners in evaluating potential purchases by thoroughly inspecting vessels and providing detailed assessments of their condition and associated costs.

Required Skills and Experience:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or diplomas in marine technology or engineering are advantageous.

Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of marine systems, equipment, and safety standards. Experience with diagnostics and repair of marine propulsion and auxiliary systems is essential.

Analytical Skills: Ability to assess complex technical issues, interpret data, and implement effective solutions quickly.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
