Job summary

Maritime Constructions seeks a Project Engineer based in Port Adelaide to join our marine contracting team. You will support planning, execution and close-out of diverse near-shore projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental plans while coordinating with project staff and subcontractors.

You will have a civil engineering background with 2+ years on-site experience, be proficient in CAD and MS Office, and able to read drawings.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years in a site engineering role.
  • Based in Adelaide with full working rights.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; MS Project highly valued.
  • Proficient in CAD software and able to read construction drawings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to regional project sites (2:1 roster).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, execution and close-out of projects.
  • Prepare project management plans, safety and environmental plans and all other project documentation.
  • Interpret drawings and prepare RFIs and/or technical queries.
  • Prepare inspection test plans (ITPs) and oversee quality control to ensure works adhere to specifications.
  • Monitor project program; procurement and construction milestones.
  • Site mobilisation and associated logistics.
  • Work closely on site with project team including supervisors and specialist marine crew.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and consultants; assist with tender submissions.

Maritime Constructions is a marine contractor, uniquely capable of self-performing the full spectrum of specialised engineering disciplines to deliver complex near-shore marine infrastructure projects from design and construction through to commissioning. Projects include jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, dredging, reclamation, navigation aids, marinas, underwater pipelines.

About the Role

Based in our Port Adelaide office and project sites across South Australia (with interstate opportunities), you will be exposed to a range of diverse and complex challenges in a very unique industry.

You will work under the guidance of a Project Manager on a range of tasks including:

  • Assist in planning, execution and close-out of projects
  • Preparation of project management plans, safety and environmental plans and all other project documentation
  • Interpret drawings and prepare RFI's and/or TQ's (Technical Queries)
  • Prepare inspection test plan (ITP's) and oversee quality control efficiently to ensure works adhere to specificationMonitor project program; procurement and construction milestones
  • Site mobilisation and associated logistics
  • Work closely onsite with the project team including Project Superintendents, Surveyors, Supervisors and specialist marine crew
  • Risk management in accordance with quality, WHS and environmental obligations
  • Project progress reporting
  • Liaise and manage subcontractors and consultants
  • Assist with tender compilation and submission

This person will be a committed project professional who has a tertiary qualification in civil engineering, along with 2-5 years project engineering experience. They must be able to establish close working relationships at all levels of the business, as well as our clients, external stakeholders and regulatory bodies. You will be responsible for tracking of project deliverables, including on site management, programming, manning, procurement, scheduling and monitoring costs.

About You
  • Engineering degree (civil, structural and mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years in a site engineering role
  • Full working rights and based in Adelaide
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (MS Project highly valued)
  • Proficient in CAD software
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational, planning and project management skills
  • The ability to lead and motivate project crews
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Be a self starter who can "think on their feet" with good problem solving skills
  • Punctual, reliable and keen to learn
  • Have effective time management skills
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Available to travel and work on regional project sites (typically 2:1 roster)
